Tidal surges likely to hit 15 dists

Tidal surges is likely to hit low-lying areas of 15 coastal districts, the weather department said on Sunday.
Low-lying areas in coastal districts may be inundated during the tidal surges, it said.
According to the weather offices, the probable tidal affected districts are Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Barishal, Jhalokati, Bhola, Lakshmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar.
Weather offices said also that the well-marked low over west-central Bay and adjoining northeast Bay intensified into a depression and lies over coastal Odisha and adjoining Northwest Bay.
As per a special bulletin the tidal surge is likely to move west-northwestwards further.
It said also that the gusty weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of the country.
Maritime ports in Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoist local cautionary signal-3.
Under its influence, deep convection is also taking place over North Bay and the adjoining area.
The weather department asked to all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea, the weather office said.
