Staff Reporter :
Slamming Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) for its report on the Jatiya Sangsad sessions, Chief Whip ASM Feroz said on Monday that the findings were confusing, fabricated and imaginary.
TIB prepared it (report) with the objective of undermining the Jatiya Sangsad and its all members, the Chief Whip said while addressing a media briefing at the parliament complex centre.
He also found the report as unnecessary and fantasy.
Admitting quorum crisis in the Parliament, Feroz said everything should not be judged negatively. He also said the assessment of financial loss due to quorum crisis was confusing and wrong.
He also claimed that the TIB should not say that no international agreement was placed in the Parliament for appraisal. The TIB statement was not right.
‘The article 135/A of the Constitution says all such deals will be presented to the President and it is he who will take the decisions of presenting them in the Parliament, said the Chief Whip.
He urged the German-based anti-corruption watchdog to refrain from conducting such study.
While disclosing findings of its study, titled “Parliamentwatch-10th Parliament: 7th-13th Session” in a media briefing on Sunday, the TIB said effectiveness of the current Parliament was still questionable as main opposition Jatiya Party (JP) played a dual role both in the House and the government.
It also said that on 433 occasions, MPs hurled vulgar and non- parliamentary words to one another in the house and on 2101 occasions MPs used vulgar and non-Parliamentary words to the political parties not represented in the Parliament in between 7th and 13 sessions of the 10th Parliament.
