Unidentified miscreants shot dead a textile engineer on the Green Road in the city yesterday (Tuesday). The deceased has been identified as Saddin Hossain Sani, 25, son of Sawkat Hossain, a resident of Green Road area. He hailed from Nawabganj upazila in Dhaka district.
He was a textile engineer of a private company at Savar upazila on the outskirts of the city.
Police said that Sani came under attack of a gang of unidentified miscreants numbering three to four when he was standing in front of Labaid Hospital at 12:45 p.m.
The miscreants from a private car opened fire on Sani, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to Labaid Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for autopsy. Police suspected that his rivals killed the young man over previous enmity.
