Sheikh Arif Bulbon :During her childhood while writing on the paper in the examinations noted singer Kanakchapa drew many things like flower, cat, etc after finishing answers. And her examiners realized that the examination paper was written by Kanakchapa. From this anybody can understand what type of fascination she had about drawing. Kanakchapa’s father Azizul Haque Morshed was a direct student of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin. From that point she got inspiration from her father to draw something during childhood. But it is difficult to step into two sides at a time. For this reason, she concentrated to music later. Now Kanakchapa’s father is not alive. Before death he saw his daughter as an established singer of the country. But he could not get the opportunity to see her daughter who is going to introduce herself with a new identity from today. This pain will remain forever in Kanakchapa’s mind, she said.Kanakchapa will be introduced today as a painter among all. The first solo exhibition titled Dwidhar Dolachol of Kanakchapa is scheduled to be inaugurated today at 5:00pm at Gallery No 4 of the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the city’s Segunbagicha area. Eminent educationist Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed will be present as chief guest at the inauguration, while noted artists Abdus Shakoor Shah, noted lyricist Rafiq-uz-Zaman and artist Kanakchapa Chakma will be also present as special guests on the occasion, Kanakchapa mentioned.Kanakchapa drawn 100 artworks including those which were drew during her childhood will put on display in the exhibition. The exhibition is dedicated to late filmmaker and artist Khalid Mahmood Mithu, she said. While sharing her feelings about first solo exhibition Kanakchapa told this correspondent, “My father observed me as a child artist in his life. But he could not see me as a writer or a painter. Basically after his death my mother gave me father’s colour box and also inspired me to start drawing again. From that inspiration and to pay tribute to my father I have drawn some paintings. But at this stage of my life, I realise that earlier I expressed my drawings into music and now I can relate my songs through paintings. I came from zero and want to vanish there. The Earth will nurture those things which are true in my life. Everybody pray for me.”Kanakchapa informed that at the inauguration of her exhibition today her husband and children will be also present. The exhibition will continue till April 4.
