Law enforcers arrested five youths out of the six accused in a case filed on the charge of gang-rape of a teenager in the city’s Kamrangirchar area on Friday noon.
The accused have been identified as victim’s friend Shopna Akhter, Hasan, Sifat, Sabuj and Roni. Another accused rapist is still absconding. All the accused are the workers of a local factory.
Local sources said that the victim girl was called over phone by her female friend Shopna from her residence on Thursday evening and brought in front of a under-construction building. Five other youths then forced her into the building. Then she was raped on the first floor of the under-construction building at East Rasulpur under Kamrangirchar area of the city.
Getting the information, victim’s family members rescued her from the spot. Her mother then immediately filed a case with the police station against the accused.
Kamrangirchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) ABM Moshiur Rahman confirmed the matter that five accused, including a female friend of the girl, were arrested on Friday.
The other accused in this case is absconding. All the accused are about 18 years and knew one another from before, the OC added.
The OC said that the four boys had already confessed to their crimes. One of the accused is still absconding
The victim girl was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) and admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC), Police are working to arrest the absconding one as soon as possible OC also added.
