A youth threw a brick targeting the office of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia at Gulshan in the city on Tuesday. Police, who were performing duty around the office, arrested the youth immediately.
The arrestee was identified as Paran Sarker of Kazipur in Sirajganj district. He informed that he is a merchant of medicine.
Eyewitnesses said that the youth threw the brick at the office in the afternoon. Meanwhile, after 10 days of the disconnection, the mobile network of Grameenphone was restored in the Gulshan office area. The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) directed the operators of mobile phone companies to restore the connection. Following the direction, other operators were in process to restore their networks.
The operators switched off their networking equipment in the area on January 31 in a bid to keep the office of Khaleda Zia out of the network. The move caused sufferings to the people living in the area.
Earlier, several foreign missions had requested the government to open the mobile network as they were facing communication problems.
