A teenage boy was beaten to death by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members along Jahurpur border in
sadar upazila of the district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Liton Miah,15, son of Anwarul Haq of Belpara village in the upazila.
BSF troops of Pirojpur camp picked up Liton when he along with another boy went near border pillar No 19/4 for cutting grass around 12:30 pm, Chapainawabganj 9 BGB battalion commander
Lt Col Abu Jafar Sheikh Mohammad Bajlul Haq said.
The BSF troops beat up Liton mercilessly and left the place, leaving him seriously injured along the border, he added.
Being informed by Liton’s friend, local people rescued him but he succumbed to his injured on his way home.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) strongly protested the incident through a letter to the BSF authorities.
