A 14-year-old girl was gang-raped in turns at her house in Neyatomo village of Lakshmipur’s Ramgati, while her parents helplessly watched the incident.
According to police and locals, she was staying at her parents on Sunday night when the incident occurred. In the early hours of Monday, the assailants broke in and tied up her parents.
They gang-raped the teenager in turns at the scene while her parents helplessly watched and then brutally beat her. The attackers fled the spot shortly after looting the house of all valuables.
Neighbours arrived shortly after the rapists managed to flee and admitted the rape survivor, who is also a child bride to Ramgati Upazila Health Complex. The girl being severely injured in the incident and was later shifted to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital when her condition deteriorated.
Confirming that her critical condition, Ramgati police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Solaiman said police have arrested one, Miraj, out of suspicion that he is involved in the rape.
“Filing of a case by the victim’s family is under process. Culprits would be brought to book after an investigation into the matter,” OC Md Solaiman said.
