Teachers of non-govt instts to get salaries in new pay scale

Staff Reporter :At length, the non-government educational institutions’ teachers will get their salaries and allowances under the new pay scale from the next month. The government announced it in a circular signed by Joint-Secretary of the Education Ministry Md Mojibur Rahman on Sunday.Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told the reporters in the Secretariat in the afternoon that the non-government teachers would be entitled to salaries in line with new scale.According to the circular issued on December 15 about the implementation of the eighth pay scale for civil servants, the issue of teachers remained inconclusive.The circular disappointed more than five lakh MPO-enlisted teachers in the country.The issue was, however, resolved yesterday. Like the civil servants, these teachers will get the new pay from the next month and their arrears date back to July 2015.On September 7, the Cabinet approved the new pay scale for government officers and employees raising the monthly basic salary of the Grade 1 public officials to Tk 78,000 (fixed). Whereas the basic pay of Grade 20 employees is Tk 8,250 only.
