Bangladesh earned Taka 17,25,59,585 in the last fiscal year by exporting tea.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed informed the Jatiya Sangsad today in reply to a starred question raised by treasury bench member AFM Bahauddin Nasim (Madaripur-3).
Responding to another question from Awami League lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury (Bhola-3), the commerce minister said the government has a plan to raise export of ceramic tablewares to different countries including Europe and America.
Tofail said this sector has been included as the “special development sector” in the four-year (2015-2018) export policy. “Under the policy, various financial and other benefits have been declared to strengthen the export base of the sector,” he added.
