Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Advocate Zainul Abedin on Thursday said, “Over the past few years, corruption has spread in every sector of the judiciary. We want to say that we are against the corruption. We have declared a fight against the corruption from today by this program.”
Addressing the Chief Justice, the SCBA President also said, “You (Chief Justice) are the guardian of

the judiciary. It’s your responsibility to tackle all kinds of corruption in the judiciary. We are requesting you from the SCBA to identify the segments where corruption has taken places and to take action against the culprits.”
He was speaking in a human chain program organized by the SCBA in the Supreme Court premises protesting the corruption in the judiciary and recovering the land to establish a multi-stored building for the SCBA.
Senior Advocate Barrister Mainul Hosein, SCBA Secretary Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan, Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal, Advocate Tajul Islam, Advocate Sharif Ahmed, among others, gave speeches on the occasion.
Barrister Mainul Hosein said, “Bail is the source of biggest corruption and no help for justice. Ninety percent of the people are in jail for refusal of bail. If there has to be any place for courage it is the judiciary. The lawyers and judges together have to protect the judiciary from intimidation. Lawyers are not united in making the judiciary strong. But judges are not judges if they yield to threats. Supreme Court needs to guide.”
