Tax audit officials to be brought under audit process: NBR Chairman

Secretary of Internal Resources Division and Chairman of National Board of Revenue Md. Nazibur Rahaman said the officials involved with the audit of income tax payees will be brought under audit manual very shortly.
He disclosed it while addressing the Chittagong Chamber officials and business community leaders at Chttagong Chamber auditorium yesterday as Chief Guest.
Chittagong Chamber of Commerce arranged the pre-buget discussion meeting at its auditorium yesterday with CCCI President Mahbubul Alam in the chair.
 NBR Chairman told that govt is mulling to conduct audit of the incomes of the audit officials those are engaged with the audit of tax payees and in the meantime a directives was issued to NBR members and customs officials in connection recently.
He said it will also be monitored whether the audit officials are harassing the general tax payees during file assessment which will be strongly monitored . NBR chairman said present govt is very much cordial to the business community and the recommendations of the business communities will be considered after proper scrutiny.
Meanwhile, member of NBR Fariduddin told that all the proposals and recommendations of trade bodies of the country have been recorded properly for final decision over it. He said about one thousand proposals so far received by the NBR from the trade bodies and the scrutiny over these proposal will be finalized before the announcement of national budget next.
In the meeting, CCCI President said CCCI has submitted 143 proposals consists of 81 for customs affairs, 20 relates to VAT and 42 over Income Tax. Chamber president said CCCI proposes to curtail income tax rate from 15% to 7.5 % . Among others, officials of Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, C&F Agents Association and Port Users Forum were present on the occasion.
