Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof Dr AK Azad Chowdhury stressed the need for protecting biodiversity to maintain ecological balance for a livable world for humankind.
“It is vital to conserve flora and fauna for the existence of human beings,” he told a conference on “Status of Fauna Biodiversity and Approaches for its Conservation in Bangladesh” at the Department of Zoology of Dhaka University (DU).
The sub-project titled “Faunal Survey and Environmental Facilities for Biodiversity Research” organized the conference.
DU Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Shahid Akhtar Hossain, and teachers and officials, among others, addressed the conference with chairman of the Department of Zoology of the university Prof Dr MA Bashar in the chair.
