Swimmers Ariful Islam and Junaina Ahmed will compete today in their respective events of the Tokyo Olympics. Ariful will participate in the heat of the men’s 50 metre freestyle event, while Junaina will compete in the heat of the women’s 50 metre freestyle event.
It will be a tough task for Ariful and Junaina to qualify in the final round. Their target is to develop their previous timing in their respective events.
Ariful’s best timing is 24.92 seconds, while Junaina’s best timing is 29.5 seconds. Ariful was taking part in his practice session at Paris in France, while Junaina was participating in her practice session in London.
Athlete Jahir Raihan will compete in the heat of the men’s 400 metre sprint on August 1.
Earlier, shooter Abdullah Hel Baki, country’s best archer Ruman Shana, female archer Diya Siddique were out of the Tokyo Olympics.
