Swadhinata Krira Sangha clinched the Saif Powertec 1st Division Football League title after playing 1-1 against PWD Sporting Club in the 11th round match at Bir Sreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Muhammad Mustafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on Monday.
Swadhinata KS took the lead with Shajahan Bhuttu’s header in the 37th minute off a corner pass of Sajal Islam, 1-0.
Aris Hossain restored the parity for PWD Sporting Club in the stopgap time of the first half as his header attempt fired the net off a corner pass of Shanta, 1-1.
Swadhinata KS played the 2nd half with defensive strategy and their defenders denied all their opponents attempts to shared the match points.
With the day’s result, Swadhinata KS collected 24 points from 11 matches, having seven wins, three draws and one loss, to stay in the top of the 12-team league table.
Wari Club finished 2nd in the league with 23 points, having seven wins, three draws and two losses, while Jatrabari Krira Chakra placed 3rd collecting 18 points with five wins three draws and three losses.
Meanwhile, in another 11th and last round match, Shadharan Bima Krira Chakra beat Bangladesh Boys Club by 2-0 goals at the same venue.
Mohammad Amin and Sabbir scored one goal each for the winners in the 21st and 80th minutes of the match.
