The National Athletics will be held in January. The National Athletics will not be held this year due to coronavirus outbreak. The Ahthletics Competition will be held on January 15 to January 17. The Summer Athletics will not be held in this year due to coronavirus pandemic. The Summer Athletics was held in August in 2019.
The Executive Committee of Bangladesh Athletics Federation took these decisions in a meeting on Friday last.
Though National Athletics and Summer Athletics will not be held in this year but the Junior Athletics will be held in November. The two-day long age group Athletics meet will be taken place at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on November 20 to November 21.
The 43rd National Athletics Championship was held in Chattogram on January 16 to January 18. It was the competition of 2019. Bangladesh Athletics Federation wanted to stage the National Athletics in 2020. But it was impossible for the coronavirus pandemic.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Athletics Federation Abdur Rakib Montu said, ” We arranged 25 online programmes including seminars and courses during the coronavirus outbreak. We arranged online programmes with India, Pakistan, South Asian Athletics Federation, Asian Athletics Federation and World Athletics Federation. We organized the fourth meeting of the Executive Committee of Bangladesh Athletics Federation physically.”
