SUST celebrates 30th founding anniversary

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology on Sunday celebrated its 30th founding anniversary through colourful programmes.
Vice-chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed and its treasurer Professor Anwarul Islam inaugurated the anniversary programmes at about 10:00am through hoisting the national and the university flags in front of the administrative building on the campus.
Later, they also paid tribute to the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a floral wrath at his mural at Bangabandhu Chattar on the campus.
The vice-chancellor also flew a bunch of colorful balloons and greeted all for attending the programmes.
He also urged teachers, students and officials to work together for enhancing the quality of education and sought assistance from all quarters to build the university as a world-class educational institution.
Huge numbers of teachers, officials and employees, including SUST Day Celebration Committee convener Professor Md Rashed Talukder, its member secretary and registrar Ishfaqul Haque took part in the programmes.
In 1991, the university started its journey with three departments and 120 students. At present, around 11,000 students are studzing at 28 departments under 6 faculties on the campus.
