BNP led 20-party alliance on Wednesday expressed concern over the news of recent police investigation looking political credentials of the UNO’s across the country.
The alliance leader and BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan told its in a press briefing after the alliance’s meeting in the city.
Meanwhile, the crisis over fixing the single candidate in Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) was not met in the meeting. The meeting took place in the BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan Office.
After the meeting a leader of the alliance said preferring anonymity, that Jamat-E-Islami leader Maulana Abdul Halim told the meeting that his party’s mayor candidate is working in the field for SCC polls.
He will inform the alliance leaders about the decision of the party’s SCC candidate after its forum meeting.
However, Nazrul Islam Khan said, the meeting decided that there will be single candidates in Rajshahi, Barisal and Sylhet City Corporation election for the 20 party alliance.
Replying a query, he said the time of withdrawing nomination papers has not ended yet.
The alliance has taken overwhelming decision over single candidate in all the three upcoming city polls.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir presided over the meeting.
BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami central executive council member Maulana Abdul Halim, Jatiya Party (Zafar) Secretary General Mustafa Jamal Haider, BJP Chairman Barrister Andaliv Rahman, Bangladesh Kalyan Party Chairman Major General (retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim and Secretary General MM Aminur Rahman and Bangladesh NAP Chairman Jebel Rahman Gani was present.
