Sunken cargo yet to be salvaged from Pashur River

Cargo ship MV Zia Raj loaded with 510 metric tones of imported coal sank in the Pashur Channel of Mongla Sea Port about one month ago but no step has yet to be taken to salvaged it.
According to the report received here, the recovery work of the coal from the cargo was completed on Sunday.
 Those who are engaged in salvaging work of the cargo ship disclosed to the newsmen, due to the high tide and low tide of the channel, the salvage work is being hampered.
Mahabubur Rahman, Manager of M/S. Bhai Bhai Salvaging Company of Narayanganj disclosed it to the newsmen that the sunken cargo ship is now under 25 feet deep of the water.
 As it remains at the bottom of Pashur channel, some ½ feet sands silted on it. He added, at the time of high tide and low tide of the river become strong to stronger very often.
 For that reason the salvaging work of the ship is hampered. He also added, another salvaging ship will join the works and it will mainly conduct the salvage works.
It may be mentioned here that the cargo ship MV. Zia Raj laden with 510 metric tones of coal sank in the channel Pashur of Mongla Port at Harbaria point on October 27 while it was going from Harbaria area to Noapara in Jessore district.
