Stocks slightly up with recovery on higher transactions

Stocks were slightly up on Monday with a trend of recovery as the major indices were found finishing upwards with rising participation of investors particularly around the some large-cap stocks reflecting the daily turnover.
The daily transactions at the two markets rose considerably. The trade value at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased to Taka 760.82 crore from Sunday’s Taka 724.22 crore. But the trade volume declined to 21.07 crore from 23.57 crore shares of the last session.
The broader index DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the session with 3.29 points up at 5,596.12. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 6.32 points up at 2066.02 and with 0.24 points up at 1287.01 respectively.
At DSE, out of the day’s 325 securities, prices of 123 securities closed higher against 163 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Republic Insurance, BD Finance, Mercantile Insurance, Desco and FAS Finance. The major losing companies were Pioneer Insurance, Phenix Insurance, Regent Textile, Rahim Textile and ETL. Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover leaders followed by SPCL, RSRM Steel, Doreen Power and Central PHL.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also finished Monday’s session in green, with major CASPI index closing 15.63 points up at 17,335.29.
