Stocks see upward trend on higher transactions

Stocks witnessed upward trends on Tuesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges rose up on higher transactions.
The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 606.89 crore from Monday’s Taka 374.31 crore and the daily trade also rose to 17.03 crore share from 11.57 crore of the previous session. The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 25.55 points up at 6,279.97. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 9.82 points up at 2,291.38 and with 10.97 points up at 1,402.39.
At DSE, out of the day’s 335 securities, the prices of 189 securities closed higher against 100 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were DSSL, Aramit, ETL, MHSML and Samorita Hospital while the major losing issues were AIL, SEMLIBBLSF, Padma Life, BXSYNTH and Square Textile. UPGDCL topped the turnover list followed by DSSL, Lafarge Surma Cement, PTL and Unique HRL.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 64.57 points up at 19,422.63. At the CSE, 240 issues were traded. Of those, 139 closed higher and 78 closed lower.
