Stocks see upward trend on higher transaction

Stocks saw upward trend on Tuesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found finishing upward trend with higher transaction of some large-cap securities.
Among rising major sectors were banks and textile. Insurance and food and allied were the major lagging sectors in the day.
The border DSEX of DSE closed the day with 29.14 points up at 5724.86. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 4.37 points up at 2065.92. But the Shariah DSES declined marginally with 4.76 points down at 1300.42.
The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 1263 crore from Monday’s Taka 995.41 crore and the daily trade also rose to 43.94 crore share from 29.43 crore share of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 326 securities, prices of 129 securities closed higher against 169 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were AB Bank, SEML IBBL Shariah Fund, Tosrifa, SEMLLCMF and IFIC Bank. The major losing issues were Padma Life, Reliance Insurance, Meghna Pet, Continental Insurance and Progressive Life.
AB Bank topped the turnover list followed by City Bank, Lanka Bangla Finance, UCBL and NBL.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 80.59 points up at 17,767.13.
At CSE, issues traded 255 while 107 closed higher against 124 closed lower when 3.49 crore shares worth Taka 94.06 crore changed hands.
