Stocks rebound on large-cap securities

Stock markets rebounded on Tuesday with all the major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock exchanges finishing upward on higher activities of the large-cap securities despite lower transactions.
Trading at the country’s premier bourse Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) witnessed mixed trends in the last couple of days which brought back the broader index of DSE near 5,900 points.
But the broader DSEX of DSE regained and closed the day with 79.46 points up at 5,949.25. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 24.87 point up at 2,216.17 and with 8.36 up at 1,385.58.
The rising major sectors were pharmaceutical and chemical, insurance and fuel and power. A total of 220 large-cap securities moved up due to higher activities.
The day’s trade value at DSE fell to Taka 322.84 crore from Monday’s Taka 440.43 crore and the daily trade decreased to 8.28 crore shares from 11.63 crore shares of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 337 securities, prices of 276 securities closed higher against 38 losing issues.
The gaining issues were Pharma Aid, Prime Life Insurance, Republic Insurance, KPCL and Asian Insurance.
