Graft case by ACC: Ex-DMCH Director, 2 others land in jail; 2 accused flee

A Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Court yesterday issued a direction to send seven persons, including former Director of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Brigadier General (Retd) Bazle Quader, to jail in a graft case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The court’s Judge Zahurul Huq issued the order after the alleged accused surrendered before the court and sought bail.
Soon after hearing the order, two alleged accused Dr Mashiur Rahman and Dr Atiur Rahman fled away from the court premises.
Besides Brigadier General (Retd) Bazle Quader, Dr Faizullah, Habibur Rahman, Nazrul Islam-1 and Nazrul Islam-2 were also sent to the jail.
According to the case, the alleged accused in collaboration with one another embezzled Tk 2.31 crore from the DMCH in the name of purchasing
surgical equipment between 2009 and 2010.
ACC filed the case with Shahbagh Thana on November 16 in 2012 and submitted a charged sheet on May 24 in 2014.
