Stocks maintain upward trend with higher transactions

Stocks maintained upward trend on Tuesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges were found finishing upward trend with higher transactions of some large-cap securities. The rising major sectors were bank, services and real estate and insurance. A total of 208 securities from the large cap group move up due to higher activities.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange closed the day with 115.59 points up at 5,770.78. The Shariah DSES and the blue-Chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 18.51 points up at 1,308.06 and 37.29 points up at 2,001.19.
The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 1,010.03 crore from Monday’s Taka 965.54 crore and the daily trade rose to 29.94 crore shares from 29.40 crore shares of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 346 securities, prices of 238 securities closed higher against 85 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Rupali Bank, SAPORTL, Asia Pacific Insurance, United Insurance and SIBL. The major losing issues were Delta Spinning, Style Craft, Samata Leather, Jute Spinning and Tallu Spinning. Brac Bank topped the turnover list followed by JMISMDL, Beximco, ALIF and Olympic. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 402.49 points up at 17,707.79. CSE, issues traded 280 while 188 closed higher against 72 closed lower when 2.36 crore shares worth Taka 73.85 crore changed hands.
