Stocks maintain upward trend with higher transactions

Stocks maintained upward trend on Tuesday as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges were found finishing upward with higher transactions of some large-cap securities.
The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 644.74 crore from Monday’s Taka 540.89 crore and the daily trade rose to 19.57 crore shares from 15.51 crore shares of the previous session.
The rising major sectors were textile and insurance. A total of 169 securities of the large-cap group incurred gain due to higher activities.
The border DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange closed the day with 48.40 points up at 5527.22. The Shariah DSES and the blue-Chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 10.51 points up at 1272.78 and 16.64 points up at 2049.52.
At DSE, out of the day’s 329 securities, prices of 215 securities closed higher against 67 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were Tung Hai Industries, Delta Spinning, CNA Textile, Peoples Insurance and Regent Textile. The major losing issues were Asia Pacific Insurance, VAMLBDMF1, Midas Finance, ICBSONALI1 and Northern Insurance.
Regent Textile topped the turnover list followed by Lanka Bangla Finance, PTL, Argon Denims and Nurani Dying. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 121.20 points up at 17,089.20.
