Stocks maintain gaining streak

Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Wednesday also witnessed upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on some large-cap issues amid optimism.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 30.49 points or 0.54 per cent to settle at 5,640.19. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 13.18 points to finish at 2,072.04 and 2.53 points closing at 1,281.21.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 15.77 billion on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 25.47 billion on previous session.
Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 361 issues traded, 120 closed green, 171 in the red and 70 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor, reports BSS.
Beximco topped the turnover chart, followed by Beximco Pharma, LankaBangla Finance, Robi and IFIC.
AFC Agro was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 9.94 per cent while GREENDELMF was the worst loser, losing 8.51 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 38.11 points to settle at 16,294.43 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 23.94 points to close at 9,827.75.
Of the issues traded, 269 advanced, 95 declined and 40 remained unchanged on the CSE.
