Over 1,200 expats die abroad from coronavirus

Over 1,200 Bangladeshi expatriates have succumbed to coronavirus infections in different countries of the world.
According to a report published in the online edition of a national daily based on information from Bangladesh embassies abroad , the expatriate communities and international media, at least 1,236 Bangladeshis died from Covid-19 outside the country as of Wednesday.
The report said the most coronavirus fatalities and infections in Bangladeshi expatriates have so far been reported in Saudi Arabia.
At least 415 Bangladeshis have so far died from the deadly virus in Saudi Arabia till Wednesday.
Meanwhile, at least 306 Bangladeshis have died from the virus in the United Kingdom while 272 in the United State during the period.
Besides, 104 Bangladeshi nationals have died in the UAE, 45 in Kuwait, 20 in Oman, 18 in Qatar, 14 in Italy, nine each in Canada and Bahrain, eight in Sweden, seven in France, five in Spain, and one each in Libya, Portugal, Gambia, South Africa, the Maldives, and Kenya after being infected with the coronavirus.
Coronavirus cases also continued to surge in Bangladesh as health authorities registered 3,462 more infections in the last 24 hours till Wednesday to take the total to 122,660.
Besides, Covid-19 claimed the lives of 37 more people in the country during the period. With this, the death toll from the virus has stood at 1,582.
