UNB, Dhaka :The foreign staff, including some 29 Spaniards, of the Spanish company Isolux Ingenieria, who were pulled out by their company from different power plant projects around the country, will now rejoin work by November 15, although they were given a deadline by the government to rejoin by yesterday (Nov 5).”Isolux has informed us that its staffs would return to their jobs by November 15,” Mostafa Kamal, managing director of Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh (EGCB), told UNB on Thursday.EGCB is one the three state-owned companies with which Isolux is working on power plant projects. It had withdrawn all its foreign staff last October 5 expressing concerns over the security situation following the killing of an Italian citizen in Dhaka.A total of 41 foreign nationals were withdrawn by Isolux, of which 38 were working on the Siddhirganj 335 MW power project, 2 at PDB’s Bibiyana South power project and one at NWZPC’s Khulna 150 MW power project. The Isolux’s withdrawal, however, happened as per the instructions of the Spanish Embassy in Bangladesh which issued a red alert on its nationals in Bangladesh. This created heavy resentment among the authorities concerned.
