Staff Reporter :The English first paper examination of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent was held on Friday across the country peacefully despite the ongoing indefinite blockade enforced by 20-party alliance. The English first paper examination had been rescheduled due to non-stop 108-hour nationwide hartal. The examination was held between 9 am and 12noon yesterday. English second paper examination will be held today (Saturday). Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said that they were determined to complete SSC and equivalent examinations in due time.”We will complete SSC examinations successfully and the results will also be published in due time” he said while inspecting the Motijheel Ideal School and College examination centre yesterday.Last Sunday’s scheduled examination was held yesterday from 9am to 12 noon. Last Tuesday’s examination will now be held today (Saturday) from 10am to 1pm.The Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations have been deferred several times due to the ongoing transport blockade called by the BNP-led alliance.He pointed out that they would not take examinations of two subjects on a single day.”It’s a rumour. I’m requesting the guardians not to pay any heed to the rumour,” Nahid said.
