Soumya to replace Imrul in Christchurch Test

Injured Imrul Kayes batted in the second innings of the first Test against New Zealand at Wellington on Monday last. He was advised to take rest by the physiotherapist of the team.
But injured Imrul Kayes arrived at the crease to save his team from certain defeat. He remained unbeaten with 36. But he could not save his team from debacle. He could not field in the second innings. He watched his team’s defeat sitting at the dressing room.
Bangladesh National Cricket team reached at Christchurch on Tuesday to play the second and final Test there. The match begins on January 20.
Imrul’s ultrasonogram was done at Christchurch. Imrul’s injury is Grade-2 type. He was advised to take rest for two weeks. The members of the Team Management need that he will play in the India Test from February 9.
Soumya Sarkar will be the replacement of Imrul Kayes in the Christchurch Test. In the first innings of the Wellington Test, Imrul Kayes made a world record taking five catches as a replaced wicketkeeper. He was behind the wicket with gloves as wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim could not play due to injury.
Mushfiqur Rahim is likely not to play in the Christchurch Test. In that case, Nurul Hasan Sohan will be the replacement of Mushfiqur Rahim.
