Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) is going to install solar street light and LED lights in the metropolis for eco-friendly infrastructural improvement and to lessen the gradually increasing pressure on electricity.
Under the project of Solar Street Light, the RCC will install two kilometers solar street light and 27 kilometer LED light in the preliminary stage. RCC Mayor Mosaddique Hossain Bulbul reveled this while addressing a review meeting of the project at his city bhaban office here yesterday afternoon.
The city dwellers having no electricity facilities are going to avail the privileges of solar street light for elevating their living and livelihood condition. On completion of the installation works, this will supplement the promotional activities of more eco-friendly infrastructures for the slum communities. The initiative, no doubt, will contribute to lessening pressure on using fossil fuel to some extent, Mayor Bulbul opined.
Mayor Bulbul asked the officials concerned to implement the project accurately so that standard, longevity, sustainability and beautification in all works are maintained. All sorts of misuse, misappropriation and irregularities must be prevented so that the target group of people can derive total benefits of the project, he added.
Project Director Engineer Shahinul Islam Khan, Executive Engineer Rafiqul Islam, Consultant Engineer Shahriar, RCC Chief Executive Officer Ajahar Ali, Secretary AKM Masuduzzaman and Chief Engineer Ashraful Haque and others concerned were present at the meeting.
