Sinha killing 3 witnesses further remanded

A Cox’s Bazar court on Tuesday placed three accused, who are witnesses in cases filed by police over the killing of Ex- Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan in police firing, on a four-day fresh remand in the case filed by his sister.
Senior Judicial Magistrate-4 Tamanna Farah passed the order when ASP Khairul Islam of RAB 15, and Investigation Officer of the case, moved and produced them in her court for a 7-day remand.
Earlier on August 20, the court sent seven people including the four policemen and three witnesses to jail on completion of their seven-day remand conducted by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in connection with the case.
The four policemen identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Liton Miah and Constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain, and Abdullah Al Mamun were made accused out of nine policemen in Sinha murder case filed by his sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous.
The other three suspects Md Nurul Amin, Md Nezamuddin and Md Ayaj were made prime witnesses in two cases which were filed against Shipra Debnath and Shahedul Islam Sifat, who were arrested following Sinha’s death on July 31.
Earlier on August 12, senior judicial magistrate of Cox’s Bazar court granted a seven-day remand for the accused policemen and the witnesses.
Maj (retd) Sinha was killed in police firing at the Baharchhara police check-post in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, on the night of July 31.
His elder sister, Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, filed a case with the Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court over the killing, against a number of policemen of Teknaf police station.
