Show cause notice on new JPC committee

Staff Reporter :A Dhaka court issued a show cause notice upon the new committee of Jatiya Press Club (JPC) asking them to answer within seven days why the committee should not be declared illegal and why injunction would not be imposed on its activities.The court issue the notice on Wednesday following a complaint filed on June 8 by general secretary of the immediate past executive committee Syed Abdal Amed.Abdal in his complaint urged the court to declare the 17-member new committee as illegal and impose ban on its activities, including banking transaction.Those accused in the complaint are: president Md Shafiqur Rahman, senior vice presidents Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul and Amirul Islam Kagoji, general secretary Kamrul Islam Chowdhury, joint secretaries Elias Khan and Ashraf Ali, cashier Kartick Chaterjee, members Amamnullah Kabir, Khondaker Monirul Alam, Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Saiful Alam, Shyamol Datta, Shamsuddin Ahmed Charu, Molla Jalal, Sardar Farid Ahmed, Hasan Arefin, Shamshul Haque Durrani, general manager of Agrani Bank Motijheel head office, assistant general manager of Agrani Bank JPC branch, manager of Prime Bnak Motijheel branch and manager of Arab Bangladesh Bank Kakrail branch.
