Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan MP formally inaugurated multipurpose dredger Watermaster -Classic IV purchased for Chittagong Port Authority at a cost of about Tk 19 core from Finland as Chief guest .
The dredger is used for environmental cleaning ,backhoe dredging, Excavating, Piling at River Bank, Removing of Reeds, dredging at rivers by cutting Suction.
The Shipping Minister said that this kind of dredger help to remove water logging by removing the reeds, Cleaning the bottom from trash. CDA Chairman Abdus Salam said, this kind of equipment is helpful to remove water logging but it is very essential to work together for implementing the project successful. CDA is now implementing a number of projects involving Tk. 25 billion by construction of the overpass at Dewanhat and Kadamtali is going on full swing.
He also added that the prime minister is very interested to develop in Chittagong City.
Mayor of City Corporation Alhaj M.Monjur Alam thanked the port Authority chairman and Shipping Minister to take Initiatives for purchasing such kind of dredging to remove water logging and inaugurate dredging System. He also hope to work together with the port authority to remove water logging from the city area.
General Secretary of City Awami League AZM Nasiruddin ,Members of Parliament fro Chittagong-14 Nazrul Islam, Chairman of River Protection Committee also spoke on the occassion. Port Chairman Rear Admiral Nizamuddin presided over the meeting.
