Shilpakala Academy pays tribute to Alam Khan

In memory of noted composer and music director Alam Khan who passed away earlier this month, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organised a commemorative event recently
at the National Theatre Hall of BSA, said a press release.
Presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, BSA Music Department Director Aftab Uddin Hablu and BSA Secretary Md Asaduzzaman spoke at the programme.
The event featured discussion on the life and works of Khan, a legendary journeyman in the audio industry of Bangladesh.
Eminent lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar gave a speech in the discussion session. Noted singer and music director Syed Abdul Hadi, composer Sheikh Sadi Khan, music director Jahangir Hayat Khan Rumu, singer Sabina Yasmin, late Alam Khan’s sons Arman Khan and Adnan Khan were present as discussants at the event. Besides, several renowned artistes rendered some of his famous and popular songs paying tribute to the late iconic composer.
At the beginning of the cultural programme, Khurshid Alam rendered two solo songs Toblar Tere Teke Tak and Ajke Nai Hoy Bhalobaso Aar Konodin Noy.
Later, singer Swaran performed Chander Sathe Ami Debo Na Tomar Tulona and Ami Rajani Gondha Phuler Moto, while Pantho Kanai rendered Ore Neel Doriya and Daak Diyachhen Doyal Amare, Ronti Das performed Mone Boro Asha Chhilo, Kaal To Chhilam Bhalo and many more.
A record seven-time National Film Award-winning music director, Alam Khan passed away on July 8 at the age of 79.
