‘Shibirmen’ cut BCL leader’s tendons in C’Bazar

Activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, allegedly cut tendons of both ankles of a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader in Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila on Thursday evening.
The victim has been identified as Razibul Islam Mustak, joint secretary of BCL of Cox’s Bazar Government College unit.
Our Cox’s Bazar Correspondent quoting witnesses reported that Razibul went to a restaurant adjacent to the district Jamaat office for some snacks around 7:30pm, where he came under the attack. He was attacked by a gang of masked ‘Shibir men. The attackers chopped him indiscriminately and at one stage they cut tendons of Razibul’s both ankles leaving him critically injured.
Razibul was first taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for treatment. As his condition deteriorated, he was later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, said Md Aslam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station.
He said, on information, his party men attacked the Jamaat office and put barricade the main road in the town. They also vandalised and torched the office.
Firemen brought the fire under control at around 9:00pm.
