Price fall in large-cap drives stocks further down

Stock markets closed on Wednesday with falling trend of all the major indices at both the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges due to lower activities.
The falling major sectors were financial institutions, textile and food and allied. A total of 129 securities of the large-cap group moved down due to lower activities.
The major DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 2.93 points down at 5,488.87. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also closed the day with 1.40 points down at 2055.36 and with 6.02 points down at 1,297.31 respectively.
Out of the day’s 337 issues, 117 closed higher against 160 losing securities.
The day’s five major gainers were FASFIN, Central Insurance, Envoy Textile, Style Craft and Northern Jute while the major losing issues were BD Finance, SAVAREFR, Sonargaon Insurance, Jute Spinners and Zeal Bangla.
Ranata topped the turnover list followed by Square Pharma, Brac Bank, GP and Salvo Chemical.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day with downward trends with its major CASPI 4.89 points down at 16,941.57. At the CSE, a total of 220 issues were traded. Of those, 82 closed higher and 104 closed lower when 46.93 lakh shares worth Taka 10.39 crore changed hands.
