Shahid Kabir’s solo exhibition begins today

A noted artist of the 70’s and internationally acclaimed artist Shahid Kabir’s solo exhibition titled “I Bow My Head to You in Deep Obeisance” will begin today at the Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts in the city’s Dhanmondi area.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor MP will inaugurate the three-week long exhibition as the chief guest, while Luis Tejada Chacon, Ambassador of Spain to Bangladesh, and Editor of daily Prothom Alo Matiur Rahman will also be present as special guests on the occasion.
Chairman of Bengal Foundation Abul Khair will preside over the inaugural ceremony.
A total of 53 artworks of Shahid Kabir will put on display in the exhibition.
This was announced at a press conference held at Bengal Shilpalaya café in the city’s Dhanmondi area yesterday where noted art critic Moinuddin Khaled, Director of Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts Subir Chowdhury, artist Shahid Kabir and Manager of the gallery Sarwar Jahan Shanto spoke on the occasion.
Artist Shahid Kabir was born in Barisal in 1949. He completed graduation in fine arts from the Government College of Arts and Crafts (presently Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University).
He took part in 13 solo exhibitions at home and abroad and many group shows.
Now Shahid Kabir is working in Dhaka and Madrid as a freelance artist.
The exhibition will end on April 1.
