Shadman, Hom set up big win for Abahani in PCL

Opener Shadman Islam hit a breezy magnificent ton followed by five-wicket haul by Shuvagata Hom enabled defending champions Abahani Limited to manage a massive 107-run victory over Prime Bank Cricket Club in the sixth round of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (PCL) held on Friday at BKSP ground no 3 in Savar.
The left handed batsman Shadman hailed from Dhaka scored 100-ball off 103-run studded with nine boundaries and three over boundaries and shared a strong 109-run opening stand with wicket keeper Liton Das (65) and then added again 101-run partnership with one down Saif Hasan (51) for the second wicket stand helped Abahani to post a massive total of 305 for all in 49.2 overs, after they opted to bat first.
However, the remaining Abahani batsmen failed to score any big as Abahani lost their remaining eight wickets in 85 runs.
Al Amin Hossain and Ariful Haqur were the most successful bowlers as they bagged three wickets giving away 47 and 58 runs respectively while Salman Hossain captured two wickets for 38 runs.
In reply, Prime Bank Cricket Club found the chase stiff and finally dismissed at 198 in 44.5 overs.
Salman Hossain top scored with unbeaten 61 runs as Prime Bank batting line-up had some good starts but no big scores.
Shuvagata, the wrecker in-chief, caused the major damage as he grabbed five Prime Bank’s wickets conceding 47 runs. He was well supported by Manan Sharma who took two wickets giving away 41 runs.
Shadman of Abahani was named the player of the match for his impressive batting performance.
