At least seven more persons were killed and several others critically injured in separate road crashes across the country on Monday.
In Madaripur, at least two persons including a truck driver and his helper were killed and two others seriously injured when the vehicle plunged into a roadside ditch at Bolgram village in Rajoir upazila of the district on Monday. The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Barishal Highway at 6am.
The deceased ware identified as driver Khokon, 35, and helper Mohammad Ali, 34, from Swarupkathi upazila in Pirojpur district.
Mahfuzur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Bhanga Highway Police, said the Munshiganj-bound truck coming from Pirojpur plunged into the road-side ditch after the driver lost control over the steering. The driver and his helper died on the spot.
The injured were admitted to Rajoir Upazila Health Complex, OC added.
In Cumilla, a woman named Rahima Begum (48) was killed in a road crash between CNG and Power tillers (Tractor) in Debibazar of the district.
Two more people were seriously injured in the incident.
The accident occurred on the Charbakar-Dighirpar road of the upazila on Monday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Debidwar Police Station Jahirul Islam told the news to media.
In Gazipur, a university student named Nayeem Hasan, 22, was killed in a road crash when a
covered van rammed him in Gazipur City Corporation’s area.
The incident took place on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway on Monday at 12pm.
Deceased Nayeem was a student of second year of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT).
Tongi West Police Station Sub-Inspector Bahar Alam confirmed the news to media.
In Satkhira, an unidentified mentally sick person was killed in a road crash when a truck rammed him in Alipura of the district. The accident occurred on Monday on the Satkhira-Bhomra road.
Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman told the matter to media.
In Manikganj, an old man named Liaquat Ali, 60, was killed in a road accident when a truck hit him at Shibalay on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway on early Monday.
Barangail Highway police outpost in-charge Yamin Dowla confirmed the matter to media.
In Barguna, a minor boy named Eidyamine was killed in a road crash when a trolley rammed him in Amtali Upazila of the district. At that time, his mother Sabiha Yasmin Irin and the motorcyclist were injured.
The accident took place on Monday morning at Bainbunia of Amtali Upazila.
