Listeners’ choice singer Selim Chowdhury’s birthday is today. Today he will turn into 51. There is no special arrangement to celebrate the day. In fact, in his family there is no tradition to celebrate birthday. But today he will take part in recording of a musical programme of Bangladesh Television titled ‘Maloncho.’ Therefore, tonight he will also take part in a stage show.
While sharing his feelings about his birthday Selim Chowdhury told this correspondent, “In fact, my birthday is not celebrated. From my childhood it has been happened by this way so now this stage it is not possible for me. I will pass the day like other days. Everybody pray for me as I can remain well and can present nice songs for the listeners and my fans.”
Selim Chowdhuty did not have any academic learning in music. But he received suggestions about music from noted persons like Mir Liaquat Ali, Sujeyo Shytam, among others. His first solo album titled ‘Kobitar Moto Chokh’ was released under the banner of Solex in 1989. Two songs of that album brough him into limelight.
