By paying highest amount of electricity bills (around 1.5 million monthly Seagull Hotel has been awarded the Best Commercial Electricity Consumer of PDB (Power Development Board). “Unlike many we never tamper with meters to dodge PDB bills,” said Masoom Iqbal, the Chairman and Managing Director of Seagull Hotel while talking to this correspondent in the afternoon on December 17 (Thursday).
“We paid two crore BDT as VAT last year, he added.
Asked about repayment of loan that he borrowed from Sonali Bank, Masoom Iqbal said, “We borrowed a loan of BDT seventeen crore on condition of repaying BDT 69 crore with interest in 28 years, but repaying more than 32 crore 32 lakh there is a debt of about BDT 12 crore until now.” Talking about interest waiver he said “The bank loan defaulters in Bangladesh are given waiver, but those who are regular like us in repaying loans are not given any waiver,”
It is worth mentioning that Masoom Iqbal is the President of Hotel Motel Owners’ Association.
