The body of a newborn was recovered in Dhaka’s Gulistan area on Wednesday morning.
The body of the baby girl, wrapped in a towel was on the footpath beside the Mahanagar Natya Mancha, said Gopal Chandra Roy, a sub-inspector of Paltan police station.
The baby was born a day ago and might have been abandoned there Tuesday night, police said.
On information, a team of police recovered the body around 8:00am and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
