Scout camp on power conservation begins

A three-daylong countrywide scout camp began yesterday (Thursday) on power conservation. The Power Division and the Bangladesh Scouts had jointly initiated the electricity conservation campaign at grassroot levels.
A total of 80,000 scouts in 494 centres across the country will be given training on electricity conservation between December 18 and December 21.
The officials of the Power Division and the Bangladesh Scouts jointly declared this in a joint press conference at Scouts Bhaban in the capital on Wednesday.
Power Cell Director General Mohammed Hossain, who is convener of
the camp, said that scouts would be trained on how to save or conserve electricity at homes and workplaces.
Besides, the organisers will distribute leaflets and posters among the scouts to give tips on electricity conservation, he said.
The trained scouts would be encouraged to save electricity at schools and at their homes, he added. Besides, the organisers will also train scouts on how to use electricity saving electronic equipments.
The campaign is the first of its kind mega programme in the country that has been initiated to conserve electricity, he said. The power division has already trained tutors for the programmes.
