A school teacher chopped to death at Shikarpur under Wazirpur upazila of Barisal on Friday night.
The victim was identified as Bipul Chakraborty, 57, unmarried and Bangla and Hindu religion teacher of Wazirpur Board Institution.
Nurul Islam, Wazirpur police station officer in charge, quoting family sources, said the victim was returning home attending a meeting of the Shikarpur Tara Mandir Committee at about 7:30 PM.
Unidentified miscreants ambushed and severely chopped Bipul Chakraborty on the way to home about one kilometer far from the Mandir.
Local people rushed to the spot brought him to Wazirpur upazila health complex and he succumbed to injuries there at about 8:30 PM, police sources said.
Asim Chakraborty, nephew of the victim, said the victim had some old rivalry over land properties with some locals and that could lead the killing.
Police recovering dead body prepared to send that to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy and no case was lodged till this report, police sources said.
