Police have recovered the bullet-hit body of a man who was an accused in a case filed on charge of “gang-rape” of a garment worker in Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital.
Ripan, 39, hailing from Jhenaidah, a key accused in a case filed for the death of the girl, was found lying on a field in Khagan area on Thursday night with a note around his neck, our Savar correspondent reports quoting Abdul Awal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Savar Model Police Station.
“The body bore a bullet mark in his head and there was a note around the neck saying that ‘I am the mastermind of the rape case’,” the police official said.
On January 7, an 18-year-old girl was found dead in her house in Ashulia’s Berun area, hours after she filed a case against one of her co-workers and three others for raping her.
However, OC Awal said that they had no clue yet regarding who killed Ripan.
Meanwhile, Ripan’s family members claimed that plainclothes men picked him up five days ago.
When asked about the claim of Ripan’s family, Inspector Javed Masud said, they have not received any complaint from his family.
The body was sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College and Hospital for autopsy, he added.
Earlier, an 18-year old girl was found dead in her house in the early hours of January 7 in Ashulia’s Berun area.
The victim lived with her parents in a rented house in Ashulia’s Jamgara area, and worked at a local garment factory.
The victim’s father alleged that his daughter was returning from her workplace at Berun around 9:00pm on January 5, when her co-worker Rahim and three others abducted her. They forcibly took her to an unknown place where they raped her that night.
The victim’s cousin, also an RMG worker, said Rahim had been stalking his sister for a long time. He disturbed her regularly on her way to and from work. She rejected Rahim, and that is why Rahim and his group raped her, he said.
The victim’s father, however, alleged that the girl died due to injuries and trauma received during the rape. He has filed another case against four people including Rahim for his daughter’s death.
Abu Hanif, father of the victim, said he along with his daughter Nazma went to Ashulia police station the next morning, but the police did not file any case.
