Saiful Islam, an abducted businessman, was found at Nabinagar in Savar on Friday night after 24 hours of his kidnapping from Narayanganj on Thursday.
Getting information from local people, Rapid Action Battalion [RAB] and police rescued him from near a restaurant ‘Bismillah Hotel’ opposite to the National Memorial at around 11:45pm on Friday. He was immediately taken to RAB-4 camp at Nabinagar.
Witnesses said that he was found after his captors riding a white microbus left him there.
Saiful’s wife Sadia Afrin Sultana arrived at RAB-4 camp, getting news of her husband’s rescue.
RAB Media Wing Director ATM Habibur Rahman said, “The RAB launched an investigation soon after the abductors had demanded Tk 20 lakh as ransom calling victim’s family members several times over cellphone.”
“The abductors may have released him after sensing RAB activity. The RAB have been conducting massive hunt to arrest the culprits,” he said.

“A man then came to check me. They gave me a bread to eat next morning. After some time, the abductors took me blindfolded, hands and legs tied up, inside the vehicle and started
for somewhere. They tossed me out after freeing my hands and legs and taking the blindfold off,” he said.
His wife Sultana had lodged a general diary at Siddhirganj Police Station earlier, alleging the abductors had contacted her over phone and demanded Tk 1 million as ransom.
He went missing from Narayanganj’s Sanarpar area at around 10pm Thursday, Islam’s business manager had told police.

Businessman Abdul Hakim, who was kidnapped from Bongshal area in old part of Dhaka city, was rescued from a house in the city’s Jurain area early Saturday.
Abul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Bongshal Police Station, said a team of police conducted a raid in the area and rescued Abdul Hakim, 35, who has motor parts business, from a house early Saturday morning.
Police also arrested two people on the spot in connection with their involvement in abduction of Hakim.
After getting information, police conducted separate drives in the area and arrested three more people for their alleged involvement in the kidnap incident.
Abdul Hakim had been reportedly kidnapped by some miscreants from Bangshal on Thursday noon.
Later the abductors over phone demanded a ransom from the victim’s family for his release.
Saifur from Gazipur

A local trader who was allegedly abducted 13 days back was rescued from Joydevpur of Gazipur district on Friday.
The victim was identified as Saifur Rahman Shamser who ran a grocery shop at Roykhail village in Dakkhin Surma upazila. He is the son of late Siddique Miah of the village.
Police detained a person for interrogation in this connection.
Rezwan Ahmed, Shamser’s brother, lodged a general diary with Kotwali Police Station in Sylhet after Shamser went missing two weeks ago.
Following the filling of the GD, police launched drive to trace out Shamser and found him in Joydevpur of Gazipur in the afternoon on Friday.
Later at night, he, along with an alleged abductor, was brought to Sylhet from Gazipur for interrogation.Bashar from Banglabazar Police rescued a businessman from Banglabazar area in Begumganj upazila of the district on Saturday morning, after 24 hours of his abduction. The victim was identified as Abul Bashar, 40, son of Foyez Ahmed of East Alaipur village in the upazila. AKM Ashrafuzzaman, additional superintendent of police, Noakhali, quoting the victims’ family, said two miscreants came riding a motorcycle and picked up Abul Bashar at gunpoint from his East Alaipur village house at about 11:00 am on Friday.
Being informed, police conducted separate drives for his rescue. Police based on secret information suspected that Bashar’s close relatives Rubel Farhad and Jony had involvement in the abduction as they had enmity with Bashar over earth cutting in the area.
Accordingly, police, unable to know whereabouts of Rubel Farhad and Jony, picked up Farhad’s mother from her house. Following Farhad’s mother’s detention, abductors set Bashar free on a road in Baroichatal area of Banglabazar in the upazila and police rescued him from there at about 10:20 am.
