Miscreants set fire on a house and an old man was burnt alive at Chayani-Tagba under Chatkhil Municipality under Noakhali district on Monday morning.
The victim was identified as Siddiqullah, 80, son of Azharullah of the same area. Siddiqullah was the grandfather of Robin who was the main accused of Tarek Hossain Swapan killing case.
Local people said the house of Robin was burning this morning. At that time, they found Siddiqullah, Robin’s grandfather lying senseless on the floor.
They rescued him and took to Chatkhil Upazila Health Complex. Later he was referred to Noakhali General Hospital when his condition deteriorated further. He succumbed to his burn injuries on the way to Hospital.
Dr. Nazrul Islam, of Chatkhil Upazila Health Complex told that 40 per cent body of the victim was burnt.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chatkhil police station Md. Nasimuddin said they recovered the body and sent to Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
It may be mentioned, that on Sunday morning Tarek was sleeping in his bed room, Robin and his associates’ number about 4 to 5 entered his room and chopped him indiscriminately and injured seriously.
The inmates of the house rushed to the spot after the hue and cry of Tarek. They took him to the Chatkhil Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared him dead.
