Sabina Khatun successfully finished her Maldives mission. Sabina Khatun is the first Bangladeshi female footballer, who played for a foreign team in a foreign football competition.
Sabina Khatun played for Maldives Police in the Maldives Women’s Futsal Fiesta.
Maldives Police became runners-up in the meet when they lost to Maldives Immigration team 6-2 in the final.
Sabina Khatun spoke at the press conference held at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation House on Saturday. General Secretary of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Md Abu Nayeem Shohag and Deputy Chaiperson of the Women’s Wing of BFF Mahfuza Akhter Kiron were also present at the conference.
Sabina Khatun scored 37 goals in six matches for Maldives Police in the Maldives Women’s Futsal Fiesta. She won the Player of the Match Awards in five matches.
She was adjudged the Best Five Player of the Tournament. She was awarded the Allied Salhi Goal Scorer Award. She won the Adidas Haters Boot. She was awarded the Top Goal Scorer award.
Sabina Said, “The players, the coach and the General Secretary of Maldives Police team are highly satisfied with her performance. It was fixed that Sabina will get 800 US dollars as per contract from Maldives Police. But Maldives Police gave her more 100 US dollars after watching her superb performance. Maldives Army team offered her 1100 US dollars to play in the Maldives Women’s Club League.”
Kiron said, “We shall try to stage Women’s Futsal Tournament in the city this year. After
Eid, we shall arrange the Women’s Club League.”
